We chose a Scholz Design Plan because we liked the lay out of the home and the detail provided in order to finish the home. Our Scholz Home Design Expert, Barbara, was well informed and very attentive. Not too pushy, but quick to follow up and follow through on what she committed herself to do. When building a Scholz Design home, you have found the home that you drove by and said, "I sure would like to have a home that looks like that. A home with more attention to the details!

Fred and I want to express our appreciation to the Scholz team for the architectural design of our Northern Virginia residence.

I discovered Scholz Design in an architectural magazine. The open designs and visual impact of the facades caught my eye. However, when I was ready to begin the architectural design, I chose a reputable local firm and worked with them for over a year. After a lot of dollars and numerous face-to-face meetings, we had a design, but it was not "our design." We chose not to move forward with the project.

Then, I remembered Scholz Design and ordered several Scholz catalogues. The catalogues contained several house design elements that we wanted in our home. After some consideration, I called and initially spoke to you. As you may remember, we exchanged more than a few e-mails, phone calls and faxes. The timely, well-informed answers and drafts that you provided were on target.

I had concerns about working on such a personalized project via fax, e-mail and Federal Express. But as the questions and drawn ideas went back and forth, I felt we achieved a meeting of the minds. The creative process kicked in and, all of a sudden, we had a team that anticipated and translated the vision to paper. This was no small feat given the complexity and size of the home envisioned.

It was exciting to see our personal vision materialize in blueprint. We are delighted with the final designs. In fact, everyone that has seen the plan says,"Wow, the conservatory really makes the over-all design unique. . .can't wait to see the house."

Again, Fred and I want to express our sincere thanks to the Scholz team and extend an early house warming invitation. We will follow-up with a formal invitation in about 14 months when the construction is complete.

We loved the layout of the Tuscan Villa but it didn't satisfy all of our needs in the bedroom area. So, we put a bedroom above the living room, added a laundry room above the dining room and walk-up access to the attic and we had it! We also made a jack-and-jill bath between bedroom 3 and the new bedroom. Finally, we flip flopped the living and dining rooms, enclosing the new living room with two walls of French doors and used it for our baby grand piano.

We also made an entrance to the master bath through the master closet for those early morning departures. Additionally, we made the powder room entrance across from the kitchen and made an entry to the mudroom from the garage.

Our builder made the initial contact and questioning to Scholz. I then called about seeing details on the kitchen design. I found our rep, Cam, knowledgeable, professional and timely in response.

I have used my framer for over fifteen years and he said these plans were the best set of plans he had ever seen. I wanted to send both you and Jas a big THANK YOU a long time ago for doing such a great job in helping Susan and I design our new home and also in working closely with us when needed during the construction process. The end result is nothing short of spectacular. Yourself, Jas, Ben, and everyone else at Scholz who worked on our project really took a personal interest in making our experience with Scholz a delight and should be very proud to work for such a professional organization.

During the whole design process, the easy-to-work together environment along with Jas’s creativity, (and a little of our own) allowed us to really create a well thought out floor plan with many unique architectural elements and the ability to really add some great details into the design as construction moved forward. The speed with which we were able to send ideas back-and-forth and to revise the plans during this stage was really amazing.

The Permit process stage was especially memorable when you Fedex’ed the 405 pages of calculations in duplicate, (810 pages total) along with a few other revisions so I could drop them off at the village to satisfy their last minute requests. The level of detail on the plans was remarkable and I think impressed even our zoning officer. During the construction process, the various people we worked with at Scholz were always pleasant and professional and very timely in answering any questions or changes that we needed.

Cam, you especially have always been a pleasure to speak to and to work with. You always made sure to follow up on all of the things that needed attention. I especially liked the various ideas you would send our way to inspire us.

I hope that you and/or Jas can make it out to see us sometime and get a first-hand look at the finished product. I would love to take you or Jas on a tour.
